Media speculation. As the article below says, if he was to suffer another major injury (likely?) then there could easily be a change of mind but a fit Andy Carroll can still be a menace to defences and would be a real asset for any team. Problem has been that he has only had that one spell when he was fit. IMHO he was nursing an injury all last season after returning and only played to get into the England squad for the WC. But even half fit he still creates havoc and is a handful, That creates space and opportunities for others. Sakho and Valencia etc...would likely benefit more than most from him in the team. His hold up play is excellent although he is not a natural goal scorer. Sort of Heskey type of player.

Main worry is that BFS still sees Carroll and Nolan as his first choice pairing?

Re: Yes I know its the Mail, but Rob Shepherd is saying
Logic suggests that if, a big if, an offer arrived, it would be from QPR

If they get relegated then they are royally fucked, what with all that FFP bollox around their neck from teh FL

So, it is not a giant leap of thought to see him return from injury, score a couple then have a desperate Fernandez bid a king's ransom in a last desperate gamble to keep his team in the PL

Not that I would want him to go mind

Selling Carroll not an option

Andy Carroll's West Ham future is secure!

Much speculation is arising over whether the club may be preparing to accept a bid should they receive one in January or next summer, given the striker's various injury problems.

However, the club believes that with the plantar fascia problem he suffered last season is now totally under control and the 'loose ankle problem' - rebuilt via surgery will see him return fine for the long term given normal circumstances

We were told that at this moment the club believe he is probably worth around £10 million on the open market.

But a well placed insider added: "Four or five goals on his return and that would go up to around £15m-£20m."

And he added that the club were very aware of the rumours that they would be ready to sell if the right offer was made but that this was not in the "smallest part of their thinking."

Sam Allardyce made it clear that Carroll needs to keep himself in top nick and that further long term injuries are unacceptable.

But our source said: "The idea of selling Andy is not an option, we have waited a long time to see the lad at his best. The idea of selling has never been mentioned"

from Wiki...

"...Carroll has been involved in many off-the-pitch incidents in his career. On 14 September 2008, he was arrested by police in Newcastle, and later accepted a police caution.[76] On 7 December 2009, he was arrested in the aftermath of a nightclub fight, again in Newcastle, accused of smashing glass in a man's face.[77] He was charged with assault and in October 2010 he pleaded guilty to common assault and was fined £1,000. He was also ordered to pay £2,500 compensation.[78]

Whilst on international duty with England U-19s, Carroll and teammates Scott Sinclair and Ryan Bertrand were sent home from the squad after breaking a curfew on 14 October 2007 during preparation for a match against Romania U-19s.[79]

In March 2010, Carroll was allegedly involved in an altercation with teammate Steven Taylor during training that left Taylor with a broken jaw.[80] Carroll reportedly suffered a broken hand in the incident, and shortly afterwards he was photographed at a pop concert with bandages to both hands.[81] Newcastle manager Chris Hughton, club representatives and both players declined to comment any further on the incident and no charges were pressed.[82]

On 18 October 2010, Carroll was charged with assault in an incident with his ex-girlfriend. Claiming self-defence, and having given a local hotel as his address, Carroll was granted bail on the condition that he resided with then Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan until the case resumed in January. The charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence.[83] Two days following his bail, Carroll's car was set on fire whilst parked on Nolan's driveway, with the club captain's garage door also being daubed with obscenities.[84] Following England's 1–1 draw with Ghana on 29 March 2011, England manager Fabio Capello told Carroll to curtail his drinking habits. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish responded by saying "Well he's never bought me a drink. I've been with him at Boyzone concerts and he's still never bought me a drink!"[85]

In an interview in April 2012, Carroll admitted that he had gained a reputation for drinking and socialising during his time at Newcastle, but that since joining Liverpool in January 2011 he had "settled down" and changed his lifestyle.[86

`PLUS...the stuff he did since then...drunk or worse captured on pics ...even on WHU events...

Self destructive and will never reach full potential...lazy...un professional lifestyle...

...and obviously injury prone...

and if you believe he did his current injury plating table tennis...you are a fool...

Re: Yes I know its the Mail, but Rob Shepherd is saying
We just put Carlton Cole up front wth Nolan in one of the best chances to beat Man Utd away, who had 10 men and are at their most fragile in decades....who did fuck all and we still lost.

Meanwhile England international Andy Caroll has been put up for sale, while he's injured, for being injured, but we will sell him when he's fit, because we played alright at Hull and beat liverpool so we don't need him.

And we are prepared to take half of what we paid 18 months ago obviously. He's in his mid 20's, but we'll stick with Cole for another couple of seasons...

Choice of him or cole coming on yesterday I know who I would prefer. If cole is on £35k a week and Carroll £85k a week getting rid of cole would make more sense

Re: Yes I know its the Mail, but Rob Shepherd is saying
Usual made up bollocks I would say

Newcastle would never pay the going rate for Carroll especially with him being injured still. He would have to get quite a few games under his belt before anyone would gamble on him. That's unlikely to happen between now & Christmas!

He would have been a more than useful sub yesterday if he was fit
